I will be the first to admit that I’ve been kind of a bad blogger. Blogging isn’t easy, and neither is trying to balance it with everything else in life. The past few weekends have been busy with house projects, and I got behind on my content planning.
Last weekend the choice was between cleaning up our yard to avoid being judged by our neighbors, or catch up on hours of missed blogging work.
We went with the yard work. 😉
I allowed myself to take a big break last week to try to catch up on some other things. It’s so hard to do everything well, and sometimes the choice comes down to doing all the things partially well (which really means not well at all) or make tough choices to let something fall.
Usually I don’t let myself slip with the blog. It’s important to me, and I enjoy it.
But, this time I took a break. So, I appreciate your patience, grace and understanding.
These pictures were actually taken last weekend right before we watched our nephews’ flag football game. They’re 4 & 7, so it’s pretty cute to watch.
This is my typical weekend style in the spring- baseball cap, striped tee, denim, and a jacket. It’s an easy, casual look that takes almost no effort and is perfect for running around and doing all the things.
We usually spend a chunk of the weekend visiting with our families, and this past weekend with Mother’s Day was no exception either.
We had dinner with my dad and his wife on Friday night. I spent much of Saturday with my mom, getting manicures and pedicures and having lunch. Then we went to my in-laws on Sunday afternoon for dinner and then ice cream afterwards.

I saw a meme this morning that listed the days of the week like this:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, BLINK, Monday, Tuesday…
I had to smile because it’s so true! How is it that Saturdays and Sundays feel like the shortest days of the week?
Lately we’ve been so busy during the week, and we still end up with a mile-long to-do list on the weekend. Adding in family time, spring yard maintenance, meal planning, grocery shopping, blogging, and for heaven’s sake a few minutes of peace and rest- it’s hard to keep up!
I’m on a never-ending search for balance.
How do you find balance in life? What are some things you really hate to let go of, but once in a while you let slip because life happens? What did you do to celebrate Mother’s Day over the weekend? What does a normal weekend look like for you? Does your weekend uniform involve a striped tee?
PS – here are some blog posts I wrote and should probably re-read 😉 to stay organized and on track: mastering your to-do list, how to organize your week like a pro, and the secret to keeping an organized house.
