Our Family Photo Session + Life Update

When Benjamin was two weeks old we had some family photos taken and I thought I’d share them on the blog today along with a little update of how we’ve been doing. All the photo credit for these images goes to Mason Photography. I can’t believe how much our sweet boy has grown even since these photos were taken!

I can’t believe it’s been over six weeks since Benjamin’s birth. I feel a little bit like we’ve been in a time warp where time is going by slowly and quickly at the same time. Each day is slow. Each week is fast.

Mathew took paternity leave and a little vacation for the first three weeks after Benjamin was born. It was so nice to have his help and support in those early weeks. It was great to have this time set aside just to be a family of three.

But while we were busy enjoying our little family, the rest of the world was forging on. The month of November went by so quickly, and as much as I had been looking forward to Christmas all year it sort of seemed like Advent came out of nowhere and now we’ve got less than a week until Christmas.

I’m taking some extra time off from work and plan to be off through March. That being said, it’s been really great to have the blog to keep me busy during the week.

Okay, that sounds silly. Having a newborn has been keeping me pretty busy! But, having a blog has been a nice distraction from my transition to stay at home mom during maternity leave. Living in Michigan in the winter can be a little tough. It’s cloudy and cold and some days it feels too snowy to really go anywhere. Add a new baby with a nap time and a low tolerance for chilly weather and I feel even more in hibernation mode than other years.

Even though some weeks my content schedule has gotten a little behind, it’s still been nice to have something to work on. I’ve always enjoyed this as a creative outlet, and it’s been especially great these past few weeks.

My days have been a mixture of snuggles, naps, nursing, story time, staring contests, tummy time, and recently trying my darndest to coax little smiles out of my sweet boy. I try to get a few small things done each day around the house and also cross one or two other things off my to-do list. All that combined with a little blog work throughout the week has kept me pretty busy.

Benjamin seems to be doing well. We don’t have another doctor’s appointment until January, but I can tell my the little creases in his thighs that he’s getting fatter, and he’s starting to fill out his 0-3 month clothing in length as well.

We’re looking forward to celebrating Christmas as a family for the first time, and soon we’ll be planning Benjamin’s baptism. We have so much to look forward to!
