Some of my Instagram friends wanted more details on our super fun Valentine’s Day date earlier this week, so I thought I’d throw up a quick post about it. For those of you who don’t know, Mathew surprised me with dinner in New York City on Valentine’s Day. Even though I brought my DSLR, I never used it. I took just a few snaps from my phone throughout the night. We were just living in the moment, so we didn’t take a lot of photos (the one above is from our trip in September). Plus, we were there overnight so it was pretty dark out most of the time. Read More
This is the best time of year for wine tasting in Michigan. The fall leaves are perfect and the weather is nice enough to be outside, while wine can warm the soul on a crisp Saturday. For you wine lovers, I know there’s a lot of hype about foreign wines and California grapes, but Michigan has some delicious wines. We too have access to the 45th parallel, which includes some great weather for growing grapes.
Almost every fall my husband and I take a trip up to the Traverse City area for some wine tasting. Sometimes we go just the two of us, and other times we travel with friends or family. We have a couple of favorite spots we love to hit up, so I thought I’d share my top five wineries for tasting in Northern Michigan. Read More
New York City. What can I say? I loved this city! Part way though our trip I told Mathew that of all the trips we had planned so far, this trip had met my expectations the best. I was a little nervous about possibly not liking New York City because of negative talk about the people, the crime, the traffic, and dirty streets and subways. But, I loved the city. We encountered loads of friendly New Yorker’s, we thankfully didn’t experience any crime, we avoided traffic by taking the subway, and even though I must tell you that the sidewalks and subway weren’t as clean as we’re used to, we didn’t really care in the grand scheme of things. We had so much fun. I tried to write a blog post with everything I loved about NYC, but it was super long, and it seemed too much like a travel diary. Instead, I decided to re-write this post to focus on the best advice I found on the web in planning our trip along with other advice I would pass along. So here you go, friends! Read More
By the time this post goes live, Mathew and I will already be in the air on our way to New York City! We are so excited to have this opportunity to visit and explore! Today I’m sharing some of the essentials I’ve packed for our trip as well as some of the things we’re hoping to do. We’ll be in the city all week until our flight back Saturday morning, so feel free to drop any suggestions below! Read More
Today, we’re talking South Africa and souvenirs. Do you like to collect anything when you travel? Growing up I was really into souvenirs. My dad did a lot of traveling for work when I was younger, and he would always bring me back a doll from wherever he went. I now have a large collection of small dolls from around the world from all his years of travel. When my brothers and I got a little older, he would bring back foreign currency for us. So, now I have a stash of random coins and paper money. What do you collect when you travel? Read More
