How to Style a Black Maxi Skirt

how to style a black maxi skirtI think I’ve said it before, but I’m not afraid to say it again. I love dressing for the weekend. I have a little more time in the mornings to get started and take some creative liberties with my outfit, hair and makeup. I also like brainstorming what looks to shoot for the blog. It really helps me explore all outfit options in my closet- especially when I’m on a budget. Today, I’m styling this black maxi skirt for a casual weekend look.

I’ve worn this weekend vibes tee twice already on the blog (here and here). Hope you don’t mind. 😉 It’s seriously a favorite of mine on the weekends. It’s so soft and comfortable. I honestly think it was meant for a pajama top (sure looks like it on the model every time I link to it) but it’s too cute to keep under the covers. I thought I’d mix it up this time by wearing it tied. Does that count? Haha!

Side note, my husband (for whatever reason) doesn’t like the term maxi so I have to call it a long skirt. Anyone else’s husband have weird quirks when it comes to fashion? He’s a goof, but he takes my pictures, so I comply.

I sometimes have difficulty styling my maxi skirt so that it doesn’t look frumpy. Do you have this problem too? I find it goes best with a fitted top, sandals or wedges, and a jacket in cooler weather.

I’m so excited to bust out the espadrilles and my pom-pom clutch from last spring/summer. I’ve linked similar styles below, and my clutch comes in multiple colors.

I highly recommend the graphic tee from Old Navy. Like I said, it’s a favorite of mine, and you really can’t beat the price. I linked some other fun graphic tees from Old Navy, as well as several maxi skirts and denim jackets. All staples for spring!

How do you dress on the weekend? Do you ever have trouble styling a maxi skirt? What are you doing to celebrate Easter this weekend?

Cheers,

Britney

  • Love your clutch! I wish I could wear maxi skirts. I’m too short 🙁

    • Thanks so much, Jennifer! I’m a little on the shorter side too, which is why I like the maxi skirt over a maxi dress. I can hike it up a little! 😉 Hope you had a great weekend!

Loving this entire look! I love how you knotted your tee & those earrings are gorgeous! xo
